Predominant somatotype in Firefighters according to gender, age, and function
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: The daily physical activity and biotype of firefighters is determinant in the good professional performance to guarantee the integrity of people during fires. Objective: The objective of this research is to determine the predominant somatotype of Cuenca firefighters according to gender, age and function. Methodology: This is comparative descriptive research, with a quantitative and cross-sectional approach. A total of 114 paid firefighters of the institution in the year 2023 participated, with ages between 23 and 61 years, with an M age of 37 years, selected in a non-probabilistic way by convenience. The study was developed by applying the restricted ISAK profile that allows evaluating body characteristics and identifying skin folds, perimeters and diameters of the firefighters in order to obtain specific data. Results and conclusion: The results obtained show that the predominant somatotype in firefighters and machinists is meso endomorphic with 85% and according to gender, mesomorphism with 81.37%, being the least predominant endomorph.
