Behavior of the level of knowledge about phytotherapy in Colon municipality. (January-December/2018)

Introduction: The use of phytotherapy may procure a deep health trnsformation with a lower risk derived from the side effects inherentts to oharmachological drugs.

Objects: To value the level of knowledge about phytotherapy in the patients of the Principal Municipal Pharmacy of Colon municipality, Matanzas province in the period from January to December of the year 2018.

Material and Methods: The study classified as descriptive abservational of transversal cut. The universe was constituted by 1000 patients who visited the drug store loking for phytomedicines. It was used the participating observation, methods, procedures and techniques of recollection and the interview. The studied variables were: age, school level, use of natural traditional medicine for diseases, use of phytomedicines, and knowledges about on the alert of interactions with other drugs. It was solicited the informed consent to participate in the investigation.

Results: A half of the population uses natural medicine (green) and a 78 % acquires it without a medical indication, being more used in patients over 48-year-old, and in respiratory processes but a 74 % uses it without knowing about on the alert of interaction with other medications.

Conclusions: The population has knowledge about phytomedicines that they consume by their own consent of selfmedication, but the level of information about side effects and medicamental interactions is poor, which indicates that as much as doctors than pharmacists must contribute more about this therapeutic modality with the purpose to avoid problems related to natural medications and in general to bring about its rational and effective use.

Physical exercise as a whole for human health.

Physical exercise constitutes for the organism a change in the conditions of equilibrium of the internal environment, it is given by the physical capacities which constitute basic qualities in the optimal physical condition of each individual, being the training the factor that offers the possibility of improving the physical capacities which constitute foundations for learning and perfecting the motor actions for life. A quality physical exercise should be developed based on the morpho-functional conditions that the organism possesses. The adaptations of the organism to the change will suppose a physical-biological benefit for the individual as long as the exercise is carried out in adequate conditions. Physical exercise has perfected men's ability to move. Direct contact with physical exercise determines that special states and feelings are experienced with regard to the activity of the whole organism and particularly with muscular activity. By practicing it systematically, the person adopts a behavior that adapts to the norms of sports activity. The physical exercise is in close relationship with the abilities that are (strength, endurance, speed and flexibility) and the warm-up which is made up of joint mobility exercises, activities to raise the pulse and stretching exercises and movements related to activity.

Stress and sleep quality in students of the Higher Education System (case: Canton Milagro)

Stress is considered as a mechanism that is affecting the health of people in modern society, stress processes produce neuroendocrine, immunological, emotional and behavioral responses to situations taken as threatening by humans. Conditioned by external factors that require our capacity for adaptation and tolerance of tense situations. Currently in institutions of superiors, the necessary importance of the predisposition or exposure in which students find themselves to academic stress is not being provided.

By continually staying at high levels of stress, changes in the physiological well-being of people with individual physical, behavioral, and psychological responses arise, having a close relationship with the quality of sleep that is intervened by the stressful times of the students. Being the indispensable dream for the functioning of the organism since it intervenes in the teaching and memory process.

For this research a survey was carried out to a total of 500 students corresponding to the Universities of Canton Milagro, the State University of Milagro and the Agrarian University of Ecuador.

93.5% of the students evaluated claimed to have presented stress levels, 31.70% considered that academic overload was the main cause of their stress, added to more factors and 96.25% indicates that stress directly affects the quality of sleep.  

In conclusion, stress is intimately linked to our sleep / rest pattern, if the need to sleep is not met, the development of our natural functions will be affected.
