Proposal for intervention against the inappropriate practice of loading school supplies.

Abstract
Background: Among the school predisposing factors for scoliosis and back pain is the way the school material is loaded and its weight. It is frequently observed that schoolchildren carry backpacks in an inappropriate way, due to the size, weight, way of carrying them that motivates an inadequate posture and gait and even back pain, constituting a problem with an impact on school health. Objective: Know how to load school supplies and show the inappropriate use of the backpack. Make a proposal for intervention in Polytechnic Institutes (IP) of the municipality of Cárdenas. Methods: An observational and prospective research was carried out on the students of the IP Daniel Rivero, Cárdenas municipality, to whom a survey was applied and the way of loading the school material was examined. Results: The casuistry consisted of 1096 students, 547 female and 549 male. It was shown that the backpack is the most frequent way of loading school material with 1089 schoolchildren (99.4%). 57,3 % of schoolchildren use the backpack in an inappropriate way. Ignorance about the load of the material and the impact on the health (97, 4 %).
