Abstract

Introduction.  Forensic odontology is a specific branch of dental sciences that deals with the application of dental principles and methods to resolve legal issues. Age is one of the main biological characteristics manipulated to identify individuals, mainly in cases where documentation is not available. Objective. Analyze the various methods existing in forensic sciences that contribute to obtaining an accurate approximation of biological age. Methodology.  The research approach will be descriptive in nature, with a qualitative approach through a bibliographic review. Results. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the analysis of 250 articles was established, of which 53 could be identified as suitable for bibliographic review. Conclusion.  After the previous investigation, it is established that there are a number of forensic methods that help us obtain an approximation of the biological age, each with its different parameters established, among the most important we have the Demirjian, Willems, Al Qahtani, Gustafson, Kval method., also visual and biochemical methods.
