Survey of tourist resources of the province of Cuando Cubango to support local development

Abstract

This study was developed in the province of Cuando Cubango in Angola, a region of Southern Africa with strong and insurmountable endogenous potential to develop from the rational use of the landscape of its flora and fauna. The main objective was to collect information needed to support the design of strategies for the promotion of local tourism. The data collection was made by the author over 6 years, based on research in tourism in natural areas. Information was collected on the tourist resources associated with animal species and wildlife; the diversity of flora; the historical-cultural heritage and the infrastructures necessary to promote tourism. were chosen 4 municipalities of the nine that the Province of Cuando Cubango has, namely: Menongue, Cuchi, Cuito Cuanavale and Dírico, where 45 places were identified and characterized for the accomplishment of nature tourism; 2 main single floristic species in the southern region of Africa: Mussivi and Girassonde; 4 major wildlife the Lion, Elephant, Hippopotamus and Buffalo, lacking confirm the existence of the Rhino.
